STANDUP ACT UPDATE
December 3, 2010

Let Congress know all you want for the holidays is the STANDUP Act!

The 111th Congress will soon end.  Before Senators and Representatives leave Washington, remind them that motor vehicle crashes are the #1 killer of teens and the STANDUP Act should be a major priority for the 112th Congress convening in January.

Specific help is needed in reaching out to key members of the Senate.  If you live in any of the following states, please click on your Senator's name and email (or use the phone number to call) them today urging them to co-sponsor the STANDUP Act:

California:  Senator Dianne Feinstein (202-224-3841)

Maryland:  Senator Barbara Mikulski (202-224-4654)

Minnesota:  Senator Al Franken (202-224-5641)

Oregon:  Senator Jeff Merkley (202-224-3753)

Washington:  Senator Patty Murray (202-224-2621)

If you don't live in one of these five states, send a fax message to your Representative and Senators by using our e-advocacy tool.  Click here to take action now!

Or click to find out who represents you in the House of Representatives and in the Senate, then call your members and urge them to co-sponsor the STANDUP Act.

Help Us Put a Face on the Issue of Teen Driving
The most powerful and persuasive way to educate lawmakers about the STANDUP Act is through personal stories, particularly stories from parents who have lost a child in a teen driving related crash.

If you or someone you know has a story about a teen driving crash that you would be willing to share, please contact Jenny Cheek at the Saferoads4teens Coalition by clicking here or calling 202-408-1711.

The Safe Teen And Novice Driver Uniform Protection (STANDUP) Act is federal legislation that would compel states to strengthen their laws for novice teen drivers, often called Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) laws.
